چکیده

This paper presents energy performance analysis of recently proposed IEEE 802.15.6 body area wireless network standard. This standard has provided specifications for four possible communication links in body area network. This paper focuses on the body surface to body surface channel (CM3) and body surface to external node channel (CM4). We provide analytical expressions for bit error rate and outage probability for impulse response ultra wide band (IR-UWB) using differential binary phase shift keying (DBPSK) modulation. Energy consumption per bit for CM3 and CM4 channels have been calculated for desired bit error rate in different channel conditions. Simulation results show that CM3 is more energy efficient and has low BER and as compared to CM4 for the same received SNR values and it is more susceptible to Rician factor due to the varying LOS/NLOS components. Keywordsbody area sensor networks, energy efficiency, UWB.

Energy Efficiency and Reliability in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks Using Cuckoo Optimizer Algorithm

Energy efficiency and reliability are widely understood to be one of the dominant considerations for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs). In this paper, in order to maintain energy efficiency and reliability in a UWSN, Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm (COA) is adopted that is a combination of three techniques of geo-routing, multi-path routing, and Duty-Cycle mechanism. In the proposed alg...

Energy-Saving in Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Optimization Sink Movement Control

A sensor network is made up of a large number of sensors with limited energy. Sensors collect environmental data then send them to the sink. Energy efficiency and thereby increasing the lifetime of sensor networks is important. Direct transfer of the data from each node to the central station will increase energy consumption. Previous research has shown that the organization of nodes in cluster...

Wireless Body Area Networks Medium Access Control ( MAC ) : IEEE 802

With recent advances in wireless networking, Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) became practically feasible. Body Area Networks are defined by the IEEE 802.15.6 standard. However, IEEE 802.15.4 MAC can also be used for WBANs as it is cheap and simple. This paper presents a study about the standards IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6. In this paper, both IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6 are explain...
